Elizabeth Berkeley was born on July 28, 1972. She started her career as a model prior to venturing into acting. In 1987, she had her first acting role in the TV movie Frog, after which she landed one-episode roles on television. When she was 17, she auditioned for the part of Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell. She was instead cast for the role of Jessie Spano, which she played from 1989 to 1993. She reprised her role in the show’s TV movie installments. She also received a Young Actress nomination for her performance. After Saved by the Bell, she starred in the film Molly & Gina.

Later, she starred as Nomi Malone in the movie Showgirls. However, her acting in the film was critically panned. After this, she played Phoebe LaVelle in the movie The First Wives Club. In the 2000s, she had notable guest roles in the TV shows NYPD Blue and Titus. She went on to play Julia Winston in 9 episodes of CSI: Miami and Kelly Wentworth in The L Word. Berkley also starred in several films during the 2000s, including The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, The Shipment, Cover Story, Roger Dodger, Moving Malcolm, Meet Market, Women in Trouble, and S. Darko. In 2013, she appeared as herself in Dancing with the Stars. Her most recent work was in an episode of New Girl in 2016.
